The Ms. Rachel Story
So earlier this month, my heart was struck with joy over the way Ms. Rachel spoke out and stood up for Nolan Wells and his family.
What really struck a nerve for me was seeing her stand on business and make it known that she wasn’t afraid to lose deals behind advocating for Black children—or any child. But if I’m being honest, it was the “Black kids” part for me.

Anyway, I was so proud of her that I sincerely wanted to thank her.
So I did.
I posted on Threads, tagged her, and shared how much I appreciated what she was doing.
She did more than reply.

She placed an $1,100 order on our website!
Before I even saw her reply, I saw the order come through and immediately thought, “Somebody is trying to scam us!” 😂
I literally had to pull my car over and do some research. Then I searched the name from the order on Facebook, and pictures of Ms. Rachel started popping up!
I went straight to Threads and saw her reply.
I was SUPER geeked!
I was excited because the order was actually real, but even more excited because she had seen my comment, read it, and actually took the time to respond.
Little did my partners, Brian and Thad, or I know—we were about to be BUSY for the next two weeks.
Ms. Rachel’s order was just the beginning.
For the next 48 hours, orders kept coming in.
Ding. Ding. Ding.
People were showing us love from everywhere.
Overall, my interaction with Ms. Rachel led to 250+ orders and two straight weeks of roasting, weighing, bagging, tagging, and shipping coffee!
Two weeks later, we were finally able to say:
WE FULFILLED EVERY SINGLE ORDER.
What a fucking experience.
Three friends started a coffee company, I sent a sincere thank-you to someone whose actions meant something to me, and somehow that moment turned into hundreds of people supporting our dream.
You really never know what can happen when appreciation, kindness, and opportunity meet at the right time.
Thank God for teachers like Ms. Rachel.
And Ms. Rachel, if you ever happen to read this:
Thank you. Again. Seriously.
You did a whole lot more than buy some coffee.
And to everybody who ordered, shared, commented, followed us, or simply rooted for us during those crazy two weeks…
Thank you for loving on Goode Damn Coffee.
Now go have yourself a Goode Damn Day. ☕️❤️
